The Song and The Sorrow

Synopsis

Canadian folk-music darling Catherine MacLellan lost her father, folk-legend Gene MacLellan, to suicide when she was a teenager. This event has resonated throughout her life and touches her work. She admits to wrestling with dark periods herself and these episodes often find their way into her songs. The Song and The Sorrow explores issues surrounding mental-illness and how it affects the creative process. It journeys besides Catherine MacLellan as she seeks answers to questions about her father that she never got to ask him herself.
