Factoria: The Magic City
Synopsis
Passing by the ruins of an old farmhouse along Saskatoon’s riverbank, local storyteller Danica Lorer is inspired to uncover the history of Factoria, a story that ties together the past and present of the land we call home.
It’s 1912. With fresh spring water on his farm just north of the booming community of Saskatoon, Billy Silverwood fills a demand for clean bottled water amidst annual outbreaks of typhoid. Soon enters Robert Glass, a slick businessman from Chicago with a big dream to promote – to turn Silverwood’s land into a massive industrial community, billed as “the magic city” – Factoria! But the boom doesn’t last long, and the big dream of Factoria begins to unravel. Where did it all go wrong?
