- Synopsis
- In an industry where very few survive let alone ever achieve recognition beyond Canada’s borders, fashion designer Izzy Camilleri made her name from the start. Celebrated early in her career for her gorgeous designs, she has won numerous awards and accolades for her collections and later for her superb work in Hollywood. But when Izzy received a phone call one day at her studio asking her to make a custom coat, she could not have anticipated how much her world was about to change. Barbara Turnbull’s request for a simple shearling cape opened the door to a world of people without fashion choices and for Izzy, her next career move became obvious. COMMON THREAD is a short documentary examining how people in wheelchairs have limited wardrobe options and how one fashion designer took it upon herself to change that.
