Youth Film Competition & Showcase
The Yorkton Film Festival is proud to announce the creation of a Children’s and Youth Film Competition. Through partnership with Canadian Heritage, YFF is helping to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary through a film competition and a non-competitive showcase that highlights Canada’s diverse and inclusive culture.
Individuals, schools, children’s and youth organizations, other organizations/groups are eligible and encouraged to submit films.
Competition
A film competition for youth from Grade 9 to Grade 12. Winning films will be broadcast on Rogers CityTV Saskatchewan and screened at other festival activities.
- First Deadline: March 23, 2017
- Second Deadline: November 30, 2017
- For youth (grade 9 – 12)
- Resident in Canada
- Film length: max. 4 minutes including opening and closing credits
- Winning entries will be broadcast on Rogers CityTV. Saskatchewan.
- Films may be screened at the Yorkton Film Festival and at YFF events
- Release forms must be submitted for all persons appearing in the film and must be submitted along with the film
- Materials with royalty free licenses, e.g. Creative Commons, may be used so long as the conditions of their respective license terms are honoured.
- No distinguishable logos on clothing, props, or other materials may be used in the film
- Full transcript (word document) of film required for broadcast
Showcase
A film showcase for children from Kindergarten to Grade 12, where films will be screened at the Yorkton Film Festival and/or at YFF events. There is no competitive aspect for this grouping.
- First Deadline: April 14, 2017
- Second Deadline: November 30, 2017
- For children and youth (K – 12)
- Resident in Canada
- Suggested Film length: 4 minutes; however longer films will be accepted
- All films must be submitted digitally through FilmFreeway
- Films will be screened at the 2017 Yorkton Film Festival and at YFF events.
- Parental permission form must accompany submission.
- This is a non-competitive category.
